Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) 2021

About KVPY 2021

The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana 2021 is a National Program of Fellowship on Basic Sciences, conducted and funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. This fellowship aims to assist the students in realizing their potential at the national level and to make sure that the best scientific talent is groomed for the field of research and development in the country. It will encourage them to pursue their career in scientific research in the future.

The Department of Science and Technology which is the nodal agency of the government has entrusted the overall responsibility for organizing and running the KVPY Program to the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and they have been entrusted to set up a management committee and a National Advisory Committee (NAC) to oversee the implementation.

  • There are two KVPY scholarships that are offered to the students who attempt the exam in any of the three streams under KVPY. The streams are SA, SB, and SX. A certain number of additional fellowships exclusively are awarded to students belonging to SC/ST community under the various streams as stated above. A certain number of fellowships under various streams as stated above will be operated exclusively for students under the category of Persons With Disability (Physically and Visually Challenged).
  • KVPY exam is a great opportunity for the JEE aspirants to get an insight regarding their concepts, understanding and application of logic. NEET aspirants also can test their PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) concepts through the exam.
  • A KVPY scholar will get free entry to all the National libraries in the country.
  • KVPY scholars need to go through a research project under the guidance of a scientist or scholar specializing in respective fields. This experience enhances the candidates' knowledge and motivates them to think independently.
