Tell us about yourself

I am Shravani Parulekar, Class 12th Student from S.K. Somaiya College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Mumbai. I recently cleared the Chennai Mathematical Institute, CMI Entrance Test.

Mathematics always fascinated me than any other subjects. The joy of solving problems and learning new concepts is way beyond anything. Apart from Math, I love reading books and sketching.

How did you prepare for the CMI?

I started preparing for ISI CMI entrance test from 11th grade. I practiced a certain set of problems everyday. Along with this, I tried some Olympiad problems like AMC, INMO, etc. I mainly focused on my weaker areas and problem solving. In the last 2 months I gave mock test to analyze my preparation. Also, I solved past year papers which helped to get accustomed with the paper pattern.

Can you suggest some books that had helped you in your preparation?

The books which helped me a lot in my preparation were:

Excursion in Mathematics
Principles and techniques in combinatorics
Real Analysis by Bartle and Sherbert
Test of mathematics at 10+2 level

What are you planning next?

I am thinking to join CMI and learn great mathematics in future.

Any advice for the current aspirants?

Just keep on doing mathematics everyday. Try to figure out the weaker topics and practice lot of problems. Try to solve every problem until all the ways are exhausted and then only look up for hints. And last but not the least believe in yourself.

How Cheenta helped you in your ISI - CMI preparation?

The weekly problem solving classes and one on one sessions helped me a lot in improving my problem solving. Aritra sir guided us throughout all the year. The conceptual classes helped in learning new concepts through problems.
