Bio: He is currently an incoming graduate student at the #1 PhD program for chemistry in the United States Massachusetts Institue of Technology. He has received PhD admits from prestigious programs like MIT, University of California Berkeley, Pennsylvania State University in chemistry and Cornell, Johns Hopkins and Max Planck – Göttingen in biophysics during the 2020-2021 application cycle. He was a Kupcinet Getz Fellow at the Weizmann Institute of Science in 2019 and a recipient of the INSPIRE fellowship from the Government of India from 2016 to 2021. He completed his integrated BS-MS in chemistry from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Kolkata in 2021.

Abstract of the Webinar:

The Gambler’s Ruin Problem, opens up a wide avenue of applications to many of the advanced techniques and methodologies of Statistics, Probability, Mathematics, and Computer Science.

This paper comprises a detailed analysis of the problem, performed at distinct levels, which includes formulation, solution and simulation of the problem along with its application to real-world scenarios. Besides the statistical insights, the paper also demonstrates the development of an R-Package and an interactive web application, further adding a dimension to the field of applied probability.
